Stop Snoring
Sleep disordered breathing is a condition defined as sleep disturbances caused by abnormal breathing patterns. Snoring and sleep apnea are the two most common sleep disorders. Not getting a good night of rest may affect: productivity and performance at work, increase risk of injury or illness, cause a strain in personal relationships, or be a sign of a more serious problem.
Snoring occurs when your breathing passage is partially blocked, resulting in hoarse or harsh sounds.
Snoring can cause:
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Difficulty in concentration
- Reduced work performance
Sleep apnea happens when the airway completely collapses, blocking airflow into the lungs. The harder someone tries to breathe, the tighter the airway closes, until the brain awakens the person. With a blocked air passage, you cannot receive enough oxygen.
Sleep apnea can cause:
- Chronic Sleepiness
- Strokes
- Heart Attack
- Heartburn
- Morning Headaches
- Depression
- High Blood Pressure
- Impotence
The TAP Oral Appliance is a patient-preferred solution for snoring and sleep apnea. To learn more about the TAP, contact Dr. Green’s office by calling (903) 784-4802. The TAP was designed to keep the airway open to allow for air to pass.
Or you could opt for the EMA. The appliance is designed to both advance the lower jaw (mandible) and open the bite to allow for less restricted airflow during sleep. he EMA does not interfere with breathing through the mouth, even in cases of congested nasal passages. The EMA has many options for patient advancement. Call (903) 784-4802 for more information.
Both of these devices are available at Dr. Green’s and you deserve to have a good night’s sleep!
